Boko Inyundo

Boko Inyundo is the Founder of “The Sixth D”, a consultancy delivering innovative strategy, business development and marketing solutions stimulating growth for venture capital, private equity and other investment funds, plus early-stage companies in their portfolio, operating in various sectors across Africa. He focuses on social and sustainable impact in Africa, aligning multiple stakeholders to effectively deliver projects that empower Africa-interested communities across the continent, its global Diaspora and UK.

Boko supports senior executives and entrepreneurs in strategising to improve leadership decision-making; extracting actionable insights to solve complex problems; accelerating sales by sharpening business development processes; or producing effective communications to influence their audiences.

He is also an Advisor to Hence Technologies, uniquely built on top of Palantir and with offices in the US, UK, Netherlands and Rwanda, offering advanced data integration capabilities to in-house legal teams to transform the way they collaborate internally as well as work with external law firms. After helping raise several million £s in 2022, Boko led delivery of its go-to-market strategy targeting Fortune 500 and FTSE 100 companies with complex legal demands, securing new customers from the private equity and investment funds, advanced manufacturing, software, healthcare, retail plus automotive industries.

With a 25+ year career spanning the legal, accounting, management consultancy and advertising industries, Boko has held senior roles in the UK at Deloitte, Linklaters, Lewis Silkin and DLA Piper driving engagement with the Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT), as well as Financial Services, industries. Notably, Boko led scenario planning and forecasting that guided the global law firm DLA Piper’s response to the impact of COVID-19, improving how the firm, in an integrated manner, supported its clients worldwide to sustainably navigate this unprecedented inflection point. This built on his work leading curation of the acclaimed DLA Piper: Global Technology Summits; TechLaw Video, Podcast and Event series; European Technology Index; and sponsorship of the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 programme. Boko also worked with Saatchi & Saatchi in London as well as with Ogilvy in Nairobi, at the latter playing a key role in launching the first pan-African Internet service provider (ISP).

Among other Africa-related appointments, Boko has, until recently, been on the Boards of the Royal African Society and African Foundation for Development as well as an Advisor to the Africa + Tech-focused consultancy Mustard, working alongside entrepreneurs to build products and narratives for a new generation of companies based in Africa serving local and global markets.

Boko regularly speaks at global industry conferences including the Africa Tech Summit which takes place annually in London, Nairobi as well as Kigali, having spoken on behalf of and been integral to the participation of several organisations at prior summits. He has also spoken at various forums hosted by major global corporations such as Amazon, Facebook and Cisco on themes and topics relating to emerging technology trends and regulation, diversity and inclusion plus strategy.

Boko is British and Kenyan. He was born, grew up and has worked in Kenya and has family there and in Uganda and Rwanda as well as in-laws in Ethiopia. He helps meet the needs of his extended family across East Africa and, for over 20 years, he ran his own community-based organisation operating in Kenya focused on water sanitation, social innovation and income generation.

Boko holds an MBA (Distinction) from Henley Business School as well as a Masters in Marketing Management from Westminster Business School. In 2014 while at Henley Business School Boko led a successful MBA consultancy project advising a South African youth development organisation on improving its Alumni engagement. Initiatives such as this, together with his personal background and professional interests, stimulate and sustain his enduring passion for Africa and its global Diaspora, with a particular interest being the role of technology and the youth in enabling positive change across Africa as well as the value diversity brings to global business and society.

By way of examples of his immersion in the diversity and inclusion agenda:

• During 2023 Boko’s consultancy, The Sixth D, has been supporting a Kenyan entrepreneur based in the UK prepare to launch, into the UK and Europe, an innovative wearable assistive technology mobility device set to help blind and partially sighted people to lead more independent lives;
• In June 2020, a particularly timely and poignant moment for the issue of race and ethnicity worldwide, Boko featured in an episode of the ‘Hysterionics’ Podcast Series hosted by a former Deloitte colleague, together with known thought leaders in this area, sharing insightful perspectives on what the ‘Black Lives Matter”-related global developments meant for business and society
• For several years until recently, Boko was also a listed consultant with Cartus, the US-based industry leader in workforce development support to organisations worldwide, with him assisting senior executives and their families as they relocated from the US and Europe into Africa;
• Between 2006 to 2008 Boko also founded Deloitte’s Multicultural Network, a diversity network set up to connect the firm’s culturally diverse workforce and to attract talent from ethnic minority communities while he has, since then, played an influential role in shaping similar diversity and inclusion programmes at other employer brands and global organisations.

Boko has a keen interest in sports noting that he previously played professional football with Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace and FC Cologne while he was also selected to represent Kenya in rugby. He is an England Rugby Football Union (RFU) certified Coach with him, this past few years until 2023, Head Coach of one of the junior age grade rugby teams at the widely acclaimed community-based Barnes Rugby Club in London, UK.
