Having lost the majority of his eye sight as a baby due to Retinoblastoma (eye cancer), Ian spent his early years being teased about his disability and appearance.
It was only when his parents encouraged him to try out Judo at the age of 7 that he started to build his self-esteem. This was the start of Ian’s journey to Paralympic medals and beyond. It laid the foundation for his life’s work, in promoting disability awareness and equity, diversity and inclusion (ED&I) in workplaces.
Ian’s relentless pursuit of peak performance as a Paralympian allows him to work with people at all levels of business, encouraging them to develop their leadership styles and go for continuous marginal gains. His humorous, energetic approach as a speaker, workshop facilitator and business coach leave his clients and audiences inspired, entertained and motivated to take action.
Following an international sporting career spanning 22 years, Ian now applies the same qualities of resilience, goal-setting skills and the pursuit of marginal gains that he perfected in sports to his keynote speaking and training. His 20 year career in IT sales and many subsequent years running his own business also allow Ian to provide solid business advice and guidance to his clients.
Ian speaks the truth about disability, resilience and reaching peak performance. He’s been through it all and is still wearing the t-shirt. His ability to inspire and motivate change, foster a winning mindset, and influence others through his journey and expertise makes him a valuable asset for any organisation aiming to achieve excellence.
