Having lost the majority of his eye sight as a baby due to Retinoblastoma (eye cancer), Ian spent his early years being teased about his disability and appearance.

It was only when his parents encouraged him to try out Judo at the age of 7 that he started to build his self-esteem. This was the start of Ian’s journey to Paralympic medals and beyond. It laid the foundation for his life’s work, in promoting disability awareness and equity, diversity and inclusion (ED&I) in workplaces.

Ian’s relentless pursuit of peak performance as a Paralympian allows him to work with people at all levels of business, encouraging them to develop their leadership styles and go for continuous marginal gains. His humorous, energetic approach as a speaker, workshop facilitator and business coach leave his clients and audiences inspired, entertained and motivated to take action.

Following an international sporting career spanning 22 years, Ian now applies the same qualities of resilience, goal-setting skills and the pursuit of marginal gains that he perfected in sports to his keynote speaking and training. His 20 year career in IT sales and many subsequent years running his own business also allow Ian to provide solid business advice and guidance to his clients.

Ian speaks the truth about disability, resilience and reaching peak performance. He’s been through it all and is still wearing the t-shirt. His ability to inspire and motivate change, foster a winning mindset, and influence others through his journey and expertise makes him a valuable asset for any organisation aiming to achieve excellence.

“Ian has a story that everyone should hear. It’s hugely motivational, inspiring, emotional, and told with passion and humility. I was proud to host Ian at our recent offsite for our top 120 Leaders in HMRC Technology. Ian linked seamlessly with our narrative and built upon the messages we landed on the day. I would not hesitate to book Ian for further insights and coaching in the future. Ian, keep living your purpose!”

“Ian delivered a very engaging keynote speech at Skanska’s Emerging Talent Conference in 2018. He captivated the audience with his expressive storytelling of his journey to where he is today and inspired a future generation to believe in themselves and their ability to bounce back in hard times. I would thoroughly recommend him for your event, even if just to get a good look at his medal collection!”

“The success of a training session is very much determined by the trainer, so it’s very important that the attendees warm very quickly to the trainer to ensure that they get the most out of the day. Your delivery was personable, thoughtful, and fun and you made it an enjoyable session. What I found particularly useful and interesting was how you shared your personal successes and challenges to really bring to life the content of the workshop. I learnt a lot of useful tools and tricks from the session which I will put to good use in both my professional and personal life.”

“We conducted feedback ourselves on the entire event and the Ian Rose session was by far the most popular. Many comments mentioned how good it was to have an external inspirational speaker deliver to them, who kept them enthralled for 2 hours. The experience as a whole was truly inspiring which is exactly what we were trying to achieve.”
